We are not required to appoint a data protection officer. For any privacy question or request, write to revolutionamv@gmail.com

2. What is MinuteGerman?

MinuteGerman is a German-language vocabulary learning service that allows users to practise German vocabulary and, when using an account, save their learning progress.

MinuteGerman can be used without creating an account. An account is only required for features that need progress to be associated with a particular user.

3. Personal data we process

3.1 When you use MinuteGerman without an account

You can use the vocabulary practice functionality without creating an account.

We do not require you to provide your name, email address, or other identifying information simply to use the basic practice functionality.

Temporary information required to operate a practice session may be processed while you use the service.

3.2 When you create an account

If you create a MinuteGerman account using email and password, we process information such as:

  • email address;
  • Firebase user ID;
  • display name, if provided;
  • account creation and update information; and
  • your learning progress.

If you sign in using Google, Google/Firebase may provide information such as your email address, name, profile information and a unique account identifier, depending on the information available through your Google account and the permissions granted during sign-in.

3.3 Learning progress

For registered users, we process information associated with your vocabulary learning, including:

  • words you have practised;
  • correct and incorrect answers;
  • review intervals;
  • scheduled review dates;
  • learning statistics; and
  • activity and streak information.

This information is used to provide the learning functionality and to calculate your progress.

4. Purposes and legal bases for processing

Providing MinuteGerman

We process account and learning data where necessary to provide the services you request, including authentication, saving your learning progress and providing personalised vocabulary reviews.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you.

Maintaining and securing the service

We may process technical information necessary to operate, maintain and secure MinuteGerman, including information contained in server requests and error logs.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable service.

Responding to enquiries

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide in order to respond to your enquiry.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Where your enquiry concerns entering into or performing a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR may also apply.

5. Authentication through Firebase

MinuteGerman uses Firebase Authentication, provided by Google, to provide account authentication.

Firebase may process information such as your email address, authentication credentials, unique user identifier and information associated with third-party authentication providers such as Google.

For email/password authentication, MinuteGerman does not receive or store your password in its own database. Authentication is handled by Firebase.

For Google authentication, Google processes your information according to its own privacy policies and Firebase processes authentication information on our behalf.

6. Hosting and server infrastructure

MinuteGerman is hosted using Render.

When you access MinuteGerman, technical information necessary to deliver and secure the website may be processed by the hosting infrastructure. This can include information such as IP address, request information, timestamps and technical error information.

7. Database and learning data

MinuteGerman uses Neon to host its PostgreSQL database.

For registered users, account information and learning progress are stored in this database. The information stored may include your Firebase user ID, email address, display name and learning progress.

8. Firebase and Google services

MinuteGerman uses Firebase services provided by Google.

Depending on the authentication method you choose, Google may process personal data in connection with authentication.

MinuteGerman does not currently use Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics for analytics or advertising purposes.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

MinuteGerman does not currently use advertising cookies, marketing trackers, session-replay tools or third-party analytics trackers.

Authentication and other functionality may involve technically necessary storage mechanisms, such as browser storage or cookies used by Firebase or other service components.

10. Fonts

MinuteGerman uses locally hosted font files. The website therefore does not need to request fonts from external font delivery services such as Google Fonts when you visit MinuteGerman.

11. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share or make personal data available to service providers where this is necessary to operate MinuteGerman, including providers supporting authentication, hosting, database infrastructure and technical operation and security.

We may also disclose personal data where required by law, a valid legal request, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
